The Malian Armed Forces (FAMa) neutralized twelve terrorists during an operation conducted on Friday, May 8, 2026, between the villages of Zangasso and Sinkolo in the Koutiala Region.
The announcement was made by the General Staff of the Armed Forces in a statement released the same day. The operation was part of ongoing offensive reconnaissance missions being carried out across the national territory.
According to the statement, a FAMa patrol encountered an armed terrorist group in the area, leading to a brief exchange of fire between the two sides. The military units involved subsequently overpowered and neutralized the attackers.
The report indicated that one Malian soldier sustained minor injuries, while twelve terrorists were neutralized. FAMa forces also recovered several items of equipment, including a PKM machine gun, four submachine guns, and thirteen motorcycles.
The Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces congratulated the soldiers for their determination and unwavering commitment to the defense of the nation.
