The Governor of the Bandiagara Region, Colonel Major Olivier Diassana, announced that two villages were targeted in simultaneous terrorist attacks on Wednesday, May 6, 2026. The attacks took place around 4 p.m. in the villages of Kori-Kori and Gomossogou.

According to the governor, the attacks caused several deaths and left many others injured, although no official casualty figures have yet been released. Authorities quickly sent an administrative and security delegation to the affected areas to assess the damage and provide support to the victims and local communities.
The governor strongly condemned what he described as “cowardly, barbaric, and inhumane” acts carried out by armed terrorists. He also expressed condolences to the families of those killed and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.
Colonel Major Diassana assured the public that the Defense and Security Forces are fully mobilized and have launched operations to track down those responsible for the attacks. He urged residents to remain calm, vigilant, and united in supporting the security forces while avoiding revenge attacks, stigmatization, and the spread of false information that could increase tensions.
